Many people are thinking of their ’09 resolutions, but have you thought about what you are grateful for this year? It is easier to figure out where you want to go in life when you’re clear about what you want to have more of, and these are the things you are grateful for. Following are my top ten…
I’M GRATEFUL FOR…
1. I can choose the food I eat. Many people don’t have this privilege. Hey, many are lucky if they have a bowl of rice a day. I try to not take my good fortune lightly and choose healthy and clean food that feeds my body, mind, soul… and taste buds.
2. The people who grow the food I eat. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all the farmers, growers, and producers that feed me! Growing food is not easy or well remunerated. It is a labor of love and I am grateful for every single person who dedicates their life to it, especially those who work with — as opposed to against — nature to produce the clean and healthy food I like.
3. My clients. The work I do is important and there is an immense need for it, but the bottom line is I couldn’t do it if it wasn’t for the beautiful women who listen to my advice and practice my recommendations. From the bottom of my heart, thank you!
4. My readers and all the people who support my work. I appreciate every email, phone call, comment, feedback that you’ve ever offered me. You inspire me to write, you give me ideas, you give me the fuel I need to continue to do work I love.
5. Scott, my husband. In case you don’t know it, he was crazy enough to let me move in with him three weeks after we started dating — that is, five weeks after we met. With all the ups and downs, it’s been over three years since then and this year I felt our commitment reached a new level. Scott, for your support, your increasing patience, and your willingness to grow together, I am very grateful :).
6. My counselors. I am thankful to all of you for helping me discover I can do anything and for giving me the resources to make it happen: Joshua Rosenthal, Rose Payne, Carin McKay, Karin Witzig, my Reevaluation Counseling and The Work counselors, and many others who I have yet to work with directly, but still have influenced me profoundly.
7. My friends. I have such good friends and I feel very blessed for every one of you in my life. I honor you and hope to continue to be your friend for many, many years to come.
8. My kitties. Jacobo and Kalapa are such beautiful and healthy cats! They accompany us and offer their love unconditionally. They remind me constantly of the importance of self-care.
9. My family. I can only hope that I get to be half the amazing, ever-giving person that my mom, Elsa Aurora, is. I am also very grateful for my brother, Juan Carlos, who is a smart, mature, and witty guy. Thank you both for being part of my life!
10. My health. My heart beats non-stop, my stomach digests food, I mean… everything works as it should and this year, I am deeply grateful for my top-notch health. Thank you body of mine for being such a deluxe vehicle for my spirit.
I wish you all a prosperous, healthy, and inspired year of 2009. May you have an abundance of things and people to be grateful for!
